Although wood gives a room a rich look, you don't want the wood to be too dark in color as this will make the room appear smaller. If you have wood flooring, rugs are a great accent that take away some of the darkness and bring color to the room as well as make it more inviting. Console tables can then be the same color as the flooring, or a lighter color. You may want just one table for an accent. If you're using them for a purpose, such as media storage, you can get a larger one. Another idea is to get tables with glass tops. These look very elegant, while complementing the wood on the tables. These may not be appropriate, however, if you have young children.
Some people buy new living room furniture every couple of years, while others make their furniture last for many years, until it literally falls apart. If you have kids in your home, as well as their friends, this may take place sooner than you think! A living room is just what the name says. It's a room you and your family will "live" in because of all the time that is spent there day after day. It is also the room where you'll be entertaining your guests, so you'll want it as tastefully decorated as possible whether your furniture is new or used. Sofas, console tables and lighting fixtures are the most common furnishings in your living room.
If you are looking for a console table to place next to your front door so that you can leave your keys when you get in you house then what you are looking for is an entrance console table. Such a table is usually long and has enough space for some decorative elements such as some pictures of your family or a beautiful lamp.
