Many people worry that console tables will just gather dust. This is an issue but most people use them in some way so it cuts down on the dust factor. Just think of it as another way to enhance your home.
Console tables are a very busy piece of furniture in most homes. While not every home has a console table, those that start to appreciate the use of console tables eventually wonder how they ever lived without them. Consider the foyer in your home. As soon as you walk in the first thing you see is one of those console tables sitting there waiting to greet you. This is a place where your keys can be put down. Perhaps you put the mail on the counter or in a drawer, or tomorrows mail on the counter to remember to take it with you. This is also a good place for a flashlight, the dog's leash and any number of other items that you are going to need as you go in and out the front door.
If you've noticed, regardless of what furnishings I've mentioned, I keep coming back to console tables. This is because they've been around forever and will always be around as an important part of your home décor. Console or sofa tables can be used next to your sofa or chair as a place to keep your newspaper or TV guide so it's always handy. If you have an empty corner in your home, nothing fills it better than a console table with a candle, picture, flower, statue or other simple decorative item.
The impressive thing about this piece of furniture is its versatility. They fit in many an odd corner in the house-at the base of a staircase, at the end of a hallway, behind a sofa. Console tables with shelves can act as bookcases in a hallway, and in a home office, they can hold electronics. Do you need a surface to display family photos, birthday cards, or a bouquet of flowers? Your console table is the logical choice.
There are very few rules regarding the design of the table, they can be round, rectangular or square, some have two legs, and so therefore must be secured to the wall, whilst others are free standing, with all four legs, affording you the ability to move it to various positions when needed, some can even be used as sofa tables. In general these tables are thin and slender, so as not to obtrude too far from the wall, making them perfect for lobby's and hallways.
