Published at Monday, 27 August 2018. Floating Shelves. By Joyce Davenport.
The shelves are made out of Cypress and they're bolted to the wall with 8-inch lag bolts. They are attached to a piece of 3/4 inch plywood and the plywood is what attaches to the wall, making a template to take back to the shop and build the wall panel to fit the wall perfectly.
I'm going to cut a hole in the wall for the microwave to slide back so it'll fit on the shelf. The shelves are only 12 inches deep in the microwave 16. First, you cut the shells on the straight line saw to get one straight edge. I cut the other edge on the push through the table, saw then I'll run them across the joiner to clean up the face, edge, kind of messed up and cut all the pieces to one length and then decided to make one long shelf across the top.
The shelves are finished with the oil blend, so we get the whole thing bolted. Together with the eight-inch bolts, there are holes of punched holes in the wall to make room for the heads of the lag bolts, we just slide it back and screw it into the wall screw into the studs. But the lag bolts shell should be able to hold between 50-100 pounds each without any trouble.
