Console tables are so diverse, and available in such a wide selection of designs, sizes, colors and shapes, that it can sometimes be difficult to define the difference between a console table and a sofa table. For those of you who are unsure exactly what they are, the definition is really rather vague, they are defined as small tables, often narrow in shape, supported by either two, or four legs, leaving the decision of whether the table you are looking at is a sofa table, or a console table.
Once you see the variety of console tables available and their myriad of uses you may just find one for every room. Try one as a TV stand in the bedroom or a writing desk in the corner of the family room, or even as a catch all in the entryway. It is perfect resting spot for keys or a handbag. And besides use you can narrow down your search by shape, style or top material. Say you want a half circle table with lots of drawers or maybe one with a tropical twist wrapped in woven sea grass. Maybe you want a rectangular one with a roomy lower shelf for displaying a few things. You'll easily find the console table of your dreams hen you shop online and since you'll be at home you can take measurements to ensure that you find a table that fits perfectly in your designated space.
To confuse the matter further, it is plausible for all sofa tables to be used as a console table, although the dimensions may not suit as well. However, it is not possible for every table to be a sofa table, primarily due to the option of purchasing a two legged table, which remains stationary and secured to the wall. One of the most common places to find console tables are in hotels as they are often used to furnish the lobby's and hallways, often with a decorative piece placed on top to create a more ambient setting.
