It is one of the oldest types of candle holders used from the time of ancient Romans and even before. The term 'votive' in the votive holders means devotion. As the name suggests, these candles are commonly used as a part of spiritual offering. It can be often seen in churches as a part of prayer offering. Votive candles are small candles made from beeswax. The votive candles need a holder as these candles burn fast and melt during the process of burning. They are available in several varieties from plain glass, mosaic tiles glass to colored glass.
Everyone likes to be in an environment which is complimented with a beauty and brings up a sense of aesthetic pleasure to your eyes. This quest for sensory pleasure, results in a desire to beautify the houses, offices, parties, and all the other possible places with suitable decorative items. A candle holder is one of such objects that decorate your surroundings in a neat and elegant fashion.
Hurricane holders are basically glass enclosures designed to prevent the candles from blowing off due to wind. Traditionally, they were used for seamless burning of candles. As oil-wick replaced candles, they lost its importance then. However, today it is largely used as an ornamental item to enhance the beauty of your home or surroundings. In these types of candle holders, the candle is meant to burn while leaving the outer glass shield completely untouched. There is a small opening at the top to allow passage of air and smoke.
