Perhaps the best and most popular uses of console tables are in entryways and as accent pieces in a living room. For example, when you come through the door of your home, you are generally carrying something that needs to be set down in a convenient location. This may be your briefcase, groceries, or just a set of keys that need to be placed in a spot where they won't get lost. The idea also holds true for many other items, ranging from homework to purses. For this reason, the console table may be one of the most highly utilized pieces of furniture in your collection. And if you're going to use it every day, you want it to be attractive. Fortunately, these tables come in so many styles and materials that it is easy to ensure they complement other pieces in the room. In a smaller room or entryway, you might want to match the material from which your table is constructed with nearby window sills or doors in the space where it resides, although different styles can be paired in a room, depending on paint colors and flooring.
One common place to see or display a console table is a foyer or entryway. Not only does this help fill an awkward space that is common to foyers where there may be room for a chair and perhaps one other piece of furniture. A console table is perfect for the foyer because it gives you a great place to store keys, gloves, and other travel essentials. This decorative but very functional accent table can also provide a perfect spot to place a lamp and illuminate what can otherwise be a somewhat dim area in most homes. Plus, a lamp can complement the table and other décor while providing a decorative element in its own right.
Sometimes all you need is a table to complete a room or space. Whether it is the hall or the living room a table such as a console table often adds the right amount of decorative flair and function to any space.
In today's home there never seems to be enough space to put stuff. If you think about it, it's amazing how much more square footage today's homes have, yet we seem to still be able to fill all that space up as soon as we get it. We are collectors by nature and it seems many believe that the more stuff they have the better they are going in the game of life.
Of course, just like a lot of other items, they have undergone several improvements but one thing is certain: they are great pieces to grace any home with. Just in case you think their relevance is only related to aesthetics, here's a surprise. Consoles are also useful in managing space. What do I mean? These tables can effectively serve as storage units for several items in the home. I could launch into a long speech about the relevance of a console table, but I will be going off my focus. Suffice it to say that getting one of these tables is an investment you won't regret.
