These pieces of furniture are so beautiful when decorated correctly so I would like to urge you to make the correct decision when choosing the decorative articles you are going to use. Make sure that you read enough articles and look into many magazines to get the best ideas on which venue to follow. It may seem like an easy task but the results may change the whole atmosphere and aura of your home and we can all agree that this is a very important fact.
There are very few rules regarding the design of the table, they can be round, rectangular or square, some have two legs, and so therefore must be secured to the wall, whilst others are free standing, with all four legs, affording you the ability to move it to various positions when needed, some can even be used as sofa tables. In general these tables are thin and slender, so as not to obtrude too far from the wall, making them perfect for lobby's and hallways.
Wouldn't it be grand if all accent furniture was as wonderfully versatile as a console table? You can place them behind a sofa, against a wall or even cover up an old radiator with a demilune or half circle one.
One of the most common places to find a console table is inside lobby's and hallway's, where they not only prove to be functional, but can provide a focal point, or point of interest. Positioned in a hallway, they provide the perfect place to keep your keys, or place the mail or newspapers that come through the door. You will often find a one of these tables with a mirror placed above it, this is especially true of those found in hallways, providing a perfect opportunity to check your appearance before leaving your home.
If you are just looking a table to place behind your sofa for decorative purposes then you are looking to get a sofa console table. This is again usually rectangular shaped and long. In this case, you can again place some pictures of your family and friends on top or anything else that you thing would look nice. What I think you should be careful of though here is that you don't place any tall or fragile objects on such a table as this would be risky. It is not rare that someone stretches while sitting in the sofa so this could result in him pushing something of the table and I bet you wouldn't want your mother's expensive vase breaking in pieces. Go with short objects such as picture frames. If you definitely want to have something tall on it then at least make sure that it is heavy enough so that it has a better balance.
