Console tables are a very busy piece of furniture in most homes. While not every home has a console table, those that start to appreciate the use of console tables eventually wonder how they ever lived without them. Consider the foyer in your home. As soon as you walk in the first thing you see is one of those console tables sitting there waiting to greet you. This is a place where your keys can be put down. Perhaps you put the mail on the counter or in a drawer, or tomorrows mail on the counter to remember to take it with you. This is also a good place for a flashlight, the dog's leash and any number of other items that you are going to need as you go in and out the front door.
Using a console table or hall tables in your decorating can add much versatility to your home. Aside from all the above mentioned ideas, it has been used in the dining room as a serving table or side board. Placing a console table in a spare bedroom or guest room makes for a nice bedside table or vanity perfect for helping your guest feel welcome. Console tables can be used as a secretary or small desk when there is no room for a fully functioning home office. No matter how it is use, the console table can be a piece of home furniture that is comfortable and versatile in almost any room in the house of office.
If you're in the process of redecorating your home, you'll find that you have a lot more choice than you had years ago. If you have young children, you may want to get practical furniture that is sturdy, durable and won't show stains. Neutral colors go with almost any style or color of furniture, as does hardwood or laminate flooring. If you want to use your table for storage, you look for one that has drawers and shelves. Some console tables come with as many as 4 shelves which can be used to store books and other decorations. You may find some tables with drawers as well. These are excellent places to store remote controls, cell phones, TV guides, etc. If you find yourself running out of places to put things in your home, you should get a this table with these storing options.
First and foremost you want to keep your tables clean. After all if this is what you are coming in the door to, don't you want it to be attractive? Start by dusting the surface. Luckily console tables don't tend to gather too much dust because they are always being used and your activity around the console tables keeps the dust from settling. However, there is always some that will get caught up on the corner or on the top edge. So go ahead and dust that table off every week or so to keep it clean.
