If you find a substantial console table, it can act as an entertainment center in your family room. Hang the flat screen TV on the wall, or put it on a pedestal on the tabletop. If it has shelves down below, make room for the DVR and the DVD player, and stock the shelves with baskets and fill them with your CDs and DVDs.
Console tables are often found placed against walls, and in some cases are attached to the wall, making them more secure. These small tables are sometimes used for display and decorative purposes, providing a secure surface on which to stand a lamp, or perhaps some flowers. With such versatility, and a wide selection of shapes, styles and sizes, you are sure to find a one that suits your home, at a price you can afford.
Console tables are so diverse, and available in such a wide selection of designs, sizes, colors and shapes, that it can sometimes be difficult to define the difference between a console table and a sofa table. For those of you who are unsure exactly what they are, the definition is really rather vague, they are defined as small tables, often narrow in shape, supported by either two, or four legs, leaving the decision of whether the table you are looking at is a sofa table, or a console table.
